In an industry where timing is everything, Mark Abdel intentionally looks to buy and sell property at the perfect time. He bought a Maple Grove townhome in the fall and put enough work into it to be ready to sell it during the spring season.
“The market is hot right now coming back intro the spring season,” says Abdel. “It’ll go fast. It has what a lot of people are looking for right now.”
The townhome offers main-floor living and a three car garage, which means it is a property in demand. In just 11 days, the property has had 20 showings and Abdel remains confident he’ll sell the property within two weeks.
Abdel’s property could be an indicator of the real estate season ahead. Low inventory combined with low interest rates could mean a fast-moving market for both buyers and sellers.
“I think it’s going to be a really big spring. 2016 is going to be bigger than last year,” says a local real estate broker. “There’s a lot of activity from people who are waiting and ready to go. I think after next weekend, the market is going to explode.”
The unofficial rule in Minnesota is when the Super Bowl is over, the spring market begins. Walgrave recommends sellers having last-minute touches completed so the house is market-ready and buyers being pre-approved and ready to make an offer if they see a property they like.
